On Sunday 29th August, the Kilkenny Vintage club held their anual field day. It was an excellent event with over 300 cars present. There were a large variety of marques on show and also special displays from the NSU owners club and the Capri Club of Ireland. The Ford Capri is 40 years old this year by the way.

Pat Bolger memorial Cup

This year, for the first time, there was a cup presented for the best car of the show. This cup was given to the Kilkenny club by the familty of the late Pat Bolger, who died in February of this year.

'BMCs' at the show:

At this years Kilkenny Vintage field day, there were a huge number of cars on display. Here are a selection that I have grouped together as there are all part of what was BMC or British Leyland. I'm sure there will be experts who would correct me on this, but i'm sure you know what I mean.

NSU's at the show

An excellent display of these unusual cars included some lovely rear engined Prinz's and a classy looking RO80 (Wankel)

Rootes Group at the show

At the Kilkenny 2010 show there were sveral excellent examples from what used to be called 'Rootes Group'. For those who are to young to remember, Rootes included models from Hillman, Humber, Sunbeam, Singer and Commer. Rootes cars were classic examples of the so-called 'Badge Engineering' of the time. Examples of this badge engineering in this collection include: A Singer Gazelle estate, a Hunter badged as a Sunbeam Vogue, a Hillman Super-Minx, Hillman Avenger and 3 Imps - One hillman and 2 Singer Chamois. The Green Chamois had only 34,000 miles while the green Avenger had an amazing 32,000.
